Film Applicator for L1 Thermoforming
Context :
Dental thermoforming labs use Carbon’s large format L1 3D printer to print models of teeth that are used to thermoform aligners. The Carbon L1 printing process for dental labs includes printing on release films.
Problem to Solve :
To create a customer friendly process for applying release films onto the printing surface that produces dental models in spec reliably.
Solution :
The Release Film Applicator uses a spring-loaded roller to apply the release film to laminate the release film onto the printing surface, ensuring no bubbles or creases. The Film Aligner provides a user-friendly way of both aligning the films within the required accuracy and holding down the curl of the films during application. Using a system of tracks, the Applicator requires only 5 lbs of user force to actuate making it customer-friendly.
